Tuchel Has Sold A Player With Great Potential At Chelsea – Says Olivier Giroud

Giroud predicted good things were on the horizon for the young striker. Both players departed Stamford Bridge over the summer in search of Serie A refuge.

Their escape from South West London occurred after they plummeted down Thomas Tuchel’s pecking order.

Especially Abraham, who was nothing but a silhouette in the final few months with his boyhood club.

This is despite finishing as the Blues joint top scorer last season.

Giroud may also have felt hard done by for being chopped from the roster after he bagged six goals during Chelsea’s successful Champions League campaign.

The two castaways are now sharing their services in Italy and enjoying themselves all the while.

“I’m happy for Tammy that he had this opportunity to bounce back in a foreign country,” said Giroud.

“It’s not easy for English players to leave the Premier League. It can be a great experience for him.

“He needed game time. At the end at Chelsea it was too tough for him, he was not even in the squad.

“He took the right decision and he’s got great potential. I think he can go he can go very high.”

After just a few months, it has become clear the move to Roma was a wise one for Abraham.

He is already on four goals this campaign, a return that led Gareth Southgate to recall him for England duty.

Away to Andorra, the 23-year-old started and scored, a combination he had never previously achieved in his country’s senior colours.

His international experience sadly ended on a sour note, after he picked up in injury against Hungary on Tuesday.

But to even be back in the Three Lions reckoning after nearly 12 months out must’ve been a wonderful feeling.

Hopefully, for Abraham’s sake, the damage isn’t too serious and he can continue to fulfil Giroud’s prophecy.
