Thomas Tuchel Told What Chelsea Will Have To Do Against Brentford Ace Who Plays ‘Like Drogba’

Brentford manager Thomas Frank has told Chelsea to be prepared to defend as he poured praise onto his attacking unit, particularly Ivan Toney and Bryan Mbeumo.

The duo were pivotal in the Bees’ promotion last season and have kept that form rolling into the club’s first ever Premier League campaign, beating Arsenal and drawing 3-3 with Liverpool already.

At his pre-match press conference Frank was also eager to point out the quality of the Blues, particularly Thomas Tuchel’s back-three and fellow Dane Andreas Christensen.

But there is also no doubt in his mind that both he and whoever starts alongside him in Chelsea’s defence will have plenty to do on Saturday evening.

“Of course, we can see the quality from Chelsea and no matter who we are facing in that back three, it’s world class players that do well for their national teams as well,” he told his pre-match press conference.

“I know Andreas Christensen very well, but the rest are top players. But, flip-side, I back my two players up there, Toney and Mbeumo.

“I think they’ve been magnificent so far this season and I think they show that they can be a handful on the day. I think their relationship and then the way they complement each other, it’s a really, really good fit.

“It’s very rare you go through a game that you don’t have to defend. We will defend quite a lot in this game no doubt about that, but I’m 100% sure that Chelsea also need to defend very well to avoid us to score goals.”

Frank is not the first Brentford figure to talk up the qualities of the front two either.

After a plucky 2-0 victory away to Wolverhampton Wanderers, Christian Norgaard heaped praise on both Mbeumo and Toney, even going as far as to compare the latter to Didier Drogba.

“I think Bryan and Ivan did a fantastic job and they linking up very well at the moment,” he said after full-time, according to The Mirror.

“I heard someone in the changing room comparing Ivan with Didier Drogba. I think he looked a bit like him actually – the way he kept the ball, his first touch and his passes.

“He won every single header and he is a right player.”
