Mason Mount Breaks A Record Previously Held By Only Chelsea Heroes

Mason Mount breaks a record that only Chelsea heroes have broken before Mason Mount won Chelsea’s player of the year award last night after another outstanding season as a Blue.

There were long stretches when he “wasn’t at his best,” demonstrating how high he’s held himself after three years as a regular.

He finished the season with more goals and assists than anyone else on the team. That places him in exclusive company.

As Alex Goldberg pointed out on Twitter, only four times in Chelsea’s history has one player dominated both categories.

One of them was Eden Hazard, who did it twice, and the other was Frank Lampard.

That’s pretty decent company for Mount to keep, and shows just how phenomenal his development has been. He’s already hitting records that players who we considered among the best ever at the club managed just once or twice in their career.
