Manchester United Have Made A Major Decision Regarding The Future Of Chelsea Target Dean Henderson

The Man United goalkeeper has been linked with a move to Chelsea on numerous occasions and they could be handed an opportunity to finally secure their man

The Red Devils’ stopper has been left frustrated in his efforts for first-team football at Old Trafford, with Spanish international David De Gea having re-established himself as the club’s No. 1.

That has left Henderson with just three appearances to his name in all competitions so far this season, having made 26 outings last term.

Now, according to reports in The Sun, the Red Devils have made the decision to make Henderson available for an 18-month loan deal, with the prospect of a January switch possible.

As per the reports, Newcastle United have emerged as potential suitors for the former Sheffield United loanee.

Whilst Chelsea are not mentioned in making a renewed move for the 24-year-old, having been linked with him for each of the past two summers, he could well provide an ideal option to the Blues as they aim to reshuffle their goalkeeping department ahead of next season.

Edouard Mendy – signed from Rennes last summer – has established himself as the club’s undisputed No. 1 following a series of impressive performances between the sticks but the situation becomes less clear with regard to other goalkeepers at Stamford Bridge.

Marcus Bettinelli sees his contract expire in 2023 and has been acting as the Blues’ reserve stopper.

Meanwhile, there remain question marks over the future of Spain international Kepa Arrizabalaga.

Following his £72m arrival from Athletic Bilbao back in 2018, he has endured hugely inconsistent form at Stamford Bridge and has become considered a back-up option.

He has also been linked with an exit from Stamford Bridge, with Lazio emerging as the most viable candidates for his services, where he could link up with his former Blues boss Maurizio Sarri.

Should he leave, then Chelsea could need recruits to continue challenging Mendy in the battle for the No. 1 shirt.

They have already been linked with Besiktas youngster Ersin Destanoğlu but Henderson could well represent an excellent option in the short term at the very least.
