Gary Lineker has poked fun at former Manchester City defender Micah Richards on the latest MOTD: Top 10 podcast.
During the international break, those two BBC Sport pundits were joined by Alan Shearer to conjure up a top-ten list of Premier League ‘ballers’.
To the uninitiated, that means they rated players, past and present, on account of flair, trickery, dribbling skills and their all-round entertainment value.
Or as Richards explained to his more seasoned colleagues, it is ‘all about the sauce’.
Manchester United icon Cristiano Ronaldo – back for a second coming at Old Trafford – was picked out as number one by all three pundits.
However, there was some debate and flexibility about the other contenders.
Cult hero Georgi Kinkladze flew the flag as far as City supporters are concerned, with Richards putting the Georgia favourite in 10th place and Shearer listing him in 9th position.
It was that very player, meanwhile, which caused Lineker to deliver a tongue-in-cheek jibe towards Richards.
He said: “Going back in time we have Georgi Kinkladze. Remember him? Of course you have [seen videos].

“He was a dribbling wizard for Manchester City, so you should know. They are one of the many teams that you’ve supported – in the days before the big bucks arrived. [He had] Goals, skills, tricks.”
Taking the comment in trademark good humour, Richards added: “He was good at jinking, had a great touch, the way he used to drop his shoulder, but like the rest of this list, [they should] have played at the top for a bit longer.”
