The Five Chelsea Stars Frank Lampard Could Sign If He Replaces Steve Bruce As Newcastle Manager

Frank Lampard is currently the bookies’ second favourite to be appointed as the next Newcastle United manager.

Steve Bruce is expected to be sacked as Magpies boss following their £300million takeover that was completed last week, with the Geordie manager admitting he could be relieved of his duties.

Speaking to the Telegraph last week, Bruce said: “I want to continue, I’d like the chance to show the new owners what I can do, but you have to be realistic and they may well want a new manager to launch things for them.

“New owners normally want a new manager. I’ve been around long enough to understand that.

“That decision is not up to me. I accept that and I will accept what comes my way. I have to wait to have those conversations with people when the time is right.

“If I don’t make it to a 1,000 games against Spurs, you might say that could only happen to me, but I don’t think it would be cruel. It’s just football.”

With Bruce looking increasingly likely to be out of a job, Lampard has been widely tipped to replace the Newcastle boss, with various bookies pricing him between 4/1 and 6/1 to take over.

So, if Lampard does move to St. James’ Park, could he look to his former club Chelsea for some new signings? football.london thinks so and here we take a look at who he could bring with him to Tyneside.

Andreas Christensen

The Denmark international, despite being one of Chelsea’s best defenders so far this season, has less than 12 months remaining on his Blues contract and could leave next summer.

As it stands, Christensen is free to talk to foreign clubs when the January transfer window over signing a pre-contract agreement, but if Newcastle came sniffing, he could be lured by the financial power they now have at their disposal.

Ruben Loftus-Cheek

Loftus-Cheek started, and impressed, in the win against Southampton before the international break, but still could be looking for a move away from Chelsea.

Thomas Tuchel has a wealth of options when it comes to the central midfield role, meaning it will be tricky for Loftus-Cheek to establish himself as a first team regular at Stamford Bridge.

Ross Barkley

The 27-year-old midfielder has made just three appearances in all competitions for Chelsea this season and could leave the club in January or next summer.

Barkley has less than two years left to run on his Blues contract, meaning he could be available for a reduced price in the summer, with a reunion with Lampard possibly be on the cards.

Hakim Ziyech

Ziyech continues to be linked with a move away from Chelsea, despite being at the club for just over one season.

Lampard brought the Morocco international to Stamford Bridge last summer and the 28-year-old showed glimpses of his undeniable talent under the former Blues boss.

The former Ajax attacker has made just six appearances in all competitions for Chelsea this season, albeit after struggling with injury problems, but could look for a move elsewhere to somewhere he could become a regular.

Timo Werner

Another Lampard signing, Werner, like Ziyech, may be becoming frustrated at the lack of first team opportunities.

The 25-year-old forward started, and scored, in the victory over Southampton around 10 days ago, but his chances in Tuchel’s first team may be limited after the big-money arrival of Romelu Lukaku over the summer.

Werner has been linked with a return to Germany, but a reunion with Lampard could be a good chance for the former RB Leipzig man to establish himself in England.
