Chelsea Interested In £19 Million Hard-Man Described By Ben Chilwell As Really Aggressive

The Blues intend to sign the center-back, according to AS, as they look to replace the departing Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen.

Does Chelsea really want to sign Soyuncu?

To be sure, Soyuncu is unlikely to be the supporters’ first choice to fill the shoes of Rudiger or Christensen.

He has fallen off the radar somewhat since joining the Foxes for £19 million (Sky Sports) in 2018.

At the King Power, the defender had to wait his turn, with Harry Maguire and Johnny Evans ahead of him in the pecking order.

However, Maguire’s move to Manchester United in 2019 provided an opportunity for Soyuncu to shine.

During the same season, the Turkey international proved to be one of the division’s best defensive forces.

He started all but four Premier League games for Leicester, missing the final three due to suspension.

Despite the disappointing end to the season, the 26-year-old was named to the PFA Team of the Year, alongside fellow Fox Jamie Vardy.

Chilwell’s evaluation

Soyuncu has a reputation for being a tough nut to crack, with a personality to match.

“You might walk into the physio room and get head locked by someone, and it might be him.”

Or you’ll hear your knuckles clicking in the morning when he goes to shake your hand. He then refuses to let go because he enjoys inflicting pain on others. He truly believes it.”

Chilwell felt Caglar’s firm grip on him while the two were playing for Leicester.

The former then relocated to Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2020 to avoid any further broken bones.

However, if his employers are serious about signing his former teammate, the Englishman should brace himself for more pain.
