This comes from Mundo Deportivo. They say Atletico Madrid have a difficult decision ahead of playing Liverpool on Tuesday.
Stefan Savic is suspended for the fixture but now Jose Gimenez is likely out, too. The Uruguayan picked up a problem on international duty. That leaves Mario Hermoso and Felipe as options for Diego Simeone.
Now, that wouldn’t typically be too much of an issue. Hermoso has started regularly this season and while Felipe hasn’t, he’s still a decent enough option.

The real problem is that Simeone has used a back three in eight of Atletico’s ten games this season. And one of those games in which he used a back four featured Hermoso at left-back – an option he doesn’t have on Tuesday.
There’s a chance that Simeone may drop back Geoffrey Kondogbia into defence in order to play with his preferred back three. Either way, though, Atletico will not have their Plan A against Liverpool.
Liverpool have scored for fun this season but Atletico are the exact kind of team who can stifle them. In fact, you’d back Simeone to keep Liverpool at bay over anyone else in the world.
We saw it back in 2020 when Atletico knocked Liverpool out of the Champions League. They know how to defend at the elite level.
So the fact they will have to compromise somewhere in defence is good news for Liverpool. That should make a tricky game a lot easier.
It’s a huge game, too, given these are the top two teams in the Champions League group. Liverpool know that a win pretty much secures progression, while even a draw goes a long to way getting top spot in the group.
